Many Ontario college programs have multiple start dates, giving you the flexibility to choose to begin your program in the fall (August / September), winter (January), or spring (May).
In early October, the application becomes available for programs beginning in the following academic year (August to July). Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to complete the academic and immigration requirements before your studies begin. Depending on the country in which you live, this process can take anywhere from three to nine months.
You may apply to any program offered by a public college in Ontario, as long as you meet the admission requirements. Note, however, that priority is given to permanent residents of Ontario and Canada for admission to Highly Competitive Programs.
You may only study as a full-time student.
You cannot come to Canada as a visitor and then attend college in Ontario. If you plan to attend college in Ontario, you should make the arrangements before you leave your home country.
If you are applying to a program taught in English, and if English is not your first language, proof of English proficiency is required. If you are applying for programs taught in French, you may need to complete a test to determine your French language skills.
